Adespotologio Animal Welfare

Adespotologio is a non-profit organization that started as a private initiative by an animal-loving group of people keen and willing to contribute to solving the stray animal problem in Greece. The group is involved in stray animal care and mainly targets their neutering, their hospitalization and adoption. The organisation’s aim is also to inform and raise public awareness on all issues concerning animals. The stray animal problem in Greece is of considerable concern and the organization relies greatly on the collaboration between volunteers and other groups as well as the local authorities and other animal welfare groups abroad.

The campaigns

The group is mainly active in Athens and one of its main aims is to provide medical care and neutering procedures to city stray animals. In order to financially support these activities the group holds regular fundraising bazaars where books, decorations, second hand clothes, handmade jewellery, gifts and group products are sold to people who support the group and private individuals.
My task is to create posters and social media banners to inform the citizens about the groups events and to invite them to participate.

Creating social awareness

One very important part of the group's work is informing people about the latest changes in the law concerning animal rights and make them realise that we are all responsible for the stray animal situation in the city. Also one of the group’s concerns is to awaken interest in the citizens and create awareness of the most common problems like poisoning the stray animals or abandoning pets. By organising campaigns that run in social media or with brochures and posters they initiate a discussion on these difficult topics and remind the citizens that they can take action by following simple and small steps.
